1. What are your top three favorite colors?

Ummm.... Dark purple, purple, and lavender ! lol I like red and pinks too sometimes

2. What crafts do you really enjoy?

Crocheting, some knitting. Would like card stamping but have not attempted to try that yet.

3. What products do you really covet?

hmmm....crochet magazines, cute project bags, pretty crochet hooks, lotions and lip glosses from Bath and body works. OH! This one lip balm I cannot find anywhere in town now, (grrr!) It is called Lypsol I LOVE it! No longer in stores around here. Would love to have a few tubes!

Relaxing, Cooking (and eating! lol) penpaling, reading, video games

Yes, ink pens of different types. Different logos and from different places, good smooth writing ones. I also collect recipes, and souviner items like magnets,

Hello out there!

I continue being busy as ever! Cannot resist a swap including my fav color though. I have been waiting to join the "Favorite Color Swap" since last year! YAY

The kids are busy and really have me on the go. My oldest, now 14 has a job through school with the television production program. She works for the little local station here in town and helps film and produce the games and events around town. Sometimes she forgets to check with my schedule or tell me what she has signed up for! So a lot of adjusting! lol
The rest of the kids are busy at school. The academic competitions have finished up for the two oldest and elementary is this Saturday, so hopefully my son will do well. He is excited about it.

We have a family member staying with us right now too. She is 25 (my cousin) and she is trying to get her life back on track. She has started college and gotten a parttime job so she is off to a good start. She can't drive though so guess who gets her where she needs to go. Yup! Mom's taxi! lol
Thats all I have today. Trying to get back into writing again, so little time though! lol

Hello out there!

I have been a busy bee.My kiddos have started their competitions with Academic teams and it is running me ragged! I have one in three schools on the teams and they all are practicing during the week. My high schooler has practice every evening after school and the other two have practice twice a week.

They love it and they do well in their subject areas, so that is good. A bit of my time and they make me proud indeed!

I have also been busy with my swaps and exchanges. It is so much fun meeting new people from around the world.

I hope to write more often, I tend to forget about my poor blog! lol

Hello,
I apologize for my lack of blogging! Sinced Feb. no doubt!!!!
I had quite a bit go on during the year. In March my hubby injured himself working on his dad's proerty and could not go to work for 12 weeks! He was home with me so priorities changed! lol
He is fine now and back to work. It was a long 12 weeks though! lol

I tried to change my blog a bit and lost all of my links. I have forgotten how to put them back!!!!!! Can anyone help me?!! lol

We have had a busy summer and it passed by so fast! Now the kids are back in school and looking forward to me spending all m time driving them to and from Academic Team practices. I will have two of them participating this year instead of two! All at different schools too! Yikes!!!!
My hubby thought he found a new home for us and we all got excited. Then we sat down and though some more. It is BEAUTIFUL and BIG, but it is not wute arranged how we'd like it if we had to choose.....wait a minute we CAN choose! lol It is our money!!!
So we are backing up and thinking of other options now to get exactly what we want, that "Dream house" that seemed so far away once!
He is thinking about rennovating this one. We will see!
Well, that is all for now, hopefully I will do better now that I can try to find a routine! lol

My birthday

Hello,
Today was my birthday. Of course it is after midnight now, so it is technically another day! lol
I got several packages in the mail this week from my different groups! It was so exciting! I am in a birthday eexchange in a couple of groups and it was nice to get cards, notes and little gifts from them!
So all in all it is a good day. I had to make my own cake of course, and ran out of time so I did not icing it yet. Maybe tomorrow.lol

Why do I like Snow???

I like snow because when I was a child, we had snow EVERY January. And Jan. is my birthday month so it usually ment I was out of school on my birthday! LOL
Now I like it because it is so pretty to watch fall on the grass and the trees. I love the quiet as it comes down and each flake more unique than the first.
Then of course I love snow because I can watch the kids go out and get totally wild and wet in it, snow angels, snowball fights...fun stuff. Then come inside and warm up with warm milk or cocoa!

Too bad we haven't had any this year :(

Well, This is my birthday month, and it is not starting off too hot. I think I have the flu!
I have been feverish all day long and feeling so bad. Still had to do the routine because the kids were 100% and going strong!!
I did not want to give it to dh so I stayed out of the room till he left for work.

Oooh Christmas is coming real fast...are you ready?
I am NOT! The kids are out of school and I have not finished shopping yet. I know they are going to want to go shopping for each other soon too.

My Secret Pal's gifts are almost ready to ship out. I hope she likes what I got her. This is really fun since it goes on for a little while and we get to know each other.
I have been making and mailing out squares for a Friendship afghan in a SWAP and it has been great seeing all of the squares come in my fav color....purple!!!!! LOL
I have a sick one home today from church and the children's choir is singing today. :(

Wow. I have made myself too busy. I had to write them down in a notebook to keep up!
I got two great packages in the mail yesterday. They were from Secret Sisters in groups that I am in. One is no longer a secret but the other one didn't give me any clues to who she is!!!
So now i have to do some investigating.
I am not finished Christmas shopping yet. I am so far behind it is not funny! The kids have been involved in school activities and kept me on the go. I am too tired to do my usual. The good thing is my hubby and I decided to cut back on what they get this year...they asked for big items anyway, and have outgrown all the cutsy stuff.., except for the 7 yr old. lol
Better go and crochet some more!

Hello all,
For the Secret Pal 9 contest this month I am to write about a favorite recipe that is special to me.

My mom and grandmother made this yummy Buttermilk Cake with Caramel icing. My Granny had made it for years and years. People she worked for in the past would call her to make this cake for them. She would ship from KY to California or wherever due to these requests! My Granny would bake it from memory...even in her mid 90's and I would stand there waiting for her to finish with the icing pot so I could scrape it clean! LOL
The cake recipe was always a secret, and was handed down, if you were interested in baking. My mom perfected the caketoo, and it was soooo good. We ALWAYS had it on the holidays.(among other cakes of course)

It was given to me when I got married, but I did not try to make it until a few years ago. My mom and Granny are both deceased now, but my dad (who was a great taste tester for years) said That I got it! Yay!!!!!
The flavor of the cake is so good, It is light and airy, but melts in your mouth. The caramel icing is made the old fashioned way by browning your sugar in the iron skillet. Yum!! I need to make some NOW!!!LOL

So that is my favorite recipe that has so much emotion and love tied up into it.

When I make it for my family wonderful memories come flooding back of Holiday baking and birthday celebrations with my family as a child. And I always lick the pot from the icing left, before I let my kids have it!

Hello All,
Happy Thanksgiving! We had a good day at the mil's house with all but 2 of her 10 children being home. It was fun, and the kids had a ball seeing their cousins.

I just want to thank my wonderful Secret Pal for her e cards and her emails! I enjoy hearing from her. It is mounting up excitement indeed!!!

I have forgotten to post here. I had to get ready for a group of men from church that my hubby wanted to have over last Saturday. Plus my hubby is on vacation for 2 weeks! Needless to say my crafting is behind as well as reading my emails!! I have gotten two sets of coasters done in pretty Christmas colors, one for a coaster exchange and another for a secret exchange.

I need to get organized. I have been buying things for my exchanges, especially the Christmas themed ones and now I need to sort them and mail!!!!

I have also done three dishcloths and I forgot to take a pix before I mailed them out! Ugh! I was trying not to be late! LOL

I have been busy these past few days. Not much knitting or crocheting going on. Halloween was a blast. The kids had so much fun. We were rushed due to practice for my oldest dd not ending till 4:30. A lot of kids were out by 5 PM were at my sil neighborhood with the rest of the nieces and nephews so they could be together. Then my sil grilled burgers for them, they hd a blast. It did turn cold out though and the rain stopped but it was misting a bit. One of my dd were feeling the effects of it last night. She had started wheezing!:(
Anyway, this w/e my dh is having some of the men of the church over for steak dinner, so I have been tidying up a bit. Need to get my craft basket out of the living room!! LOL
I have to work on my Nov. exchanges after this w/e. The early ones I have sent off, but I need to do some ornaments.
I have been shopping around for my SP 9 person. This is so neat how we can sneak and look at their blog and find out things about them and buy accordingly.
I think the most of them are far better crafter than I. It is neat to see things they have made.
Better go and get busy, it will be time to get the kids and I will have accomplished nothing!!LOL

This week has been busy. The my oldest has started with her competitions with Academic Team. So we are on the road again.
Hopefully, it won't be as stressful as last year. With homework and all makes it difficult to stay on top of things!
I will have two in competitions in January. My 5th grader competes on the elementary level also, but at least the schools are right around here.

It took forever tonight to get everyone settled and homework done. The younger two were finished early, but the older two, I just sent to bed because they had too many questions(Algebra) and it was late. I guess we must get up early in the morning to finish.. Argh!! My brain had shut down by then! LOL

Woe is me.. We are at it again. Back to the busy schedule with the kids at school. I must organize myself so I can keep up with things!
I am crocheting some more coasters to send to a Holiday exchange partner. I have been waiting for some pretty Christmas yarn at our Walmart, but it has not arrived yet. I saw some online even some cotton Christmas yarn. I hope they hurry up and get some in!!
My dd has started carrying around a hook and yarn in her backpack! It is funny because she just makes chains,,,,, and the kids are asking her to make some for them! LOL I told her she needs to learn how to make a square now!
We are still in rainy weather. It rained all night long and is still raining now at 11 a.m.
Our temps are going back up to warmer for a few days too so they say!
Better go finish these coasters and start on a dishcloth for another exchange!

Hi!
I forgot to post yesterday. I actually was trying to catch up on housework, not to mention made a big pot of homemade vegetable
soup for dinner. The cooler temperatures are starting to hit our
area and the soup was just what we needed!!

I am knitting and mostly crocheting dishcloths and coasters for
upcoming exchanges. I am one ahead on my monthly dishcloth exchange. My month is Feb. I believe. the Halloween exchanges have been so much fun too, buying for kids is one thing, but being able to buy treats and make things for the ladies have really been fun!!
Next are the secret pal and Christmas exchanges. This will really be good because you all know mom gives and gives at Christmas time...and that indeed is what I love to do! But it is nice to occasionally receive things that you love to do as gifts, and who better knows what to give
a fellow crafter than another crafter!!!!! Plus we never make things for ourselves to use!!!! LOL

First of all let me say thank you to Suzi at the Knitters Tea Swap2. It was so much fun participating in this!!! My Secret Swap partner was Isobel, from Ireland! She really showered me with gifts too! She sent me two bags of her favorite loose teas and a tea ball infuser!!!! One tea is a Rooibus tea,which is a South African red bush tea. The other is a vanilla tea, yummy! I will savour the flavor of each one!!!

Here she gave me two adorable tea towels and a book called "Tea Tips" Aren't these adorable?

Oh and look here is some beautiful yarn. Some from an Irish spinner, and it has alpaca in it!!!! It is Aran Luxury Tweed.

And the color is just luscious!!! It isn't as bright purple as it appears hee, it is more of a plum or mulberry with flecks of red, green, and blues in it ever so slight.

Oh and here we have everyone's fav. Chocolate!!! My kids were drooling over this. She sent her favs here and tells me that even though we can get the Kit Kat Bar in the US, these taste different. I cannot wait to try them!!!

But wait that's not all!!!!!!!

Here are my souvenirs from Ireland. Two post cards and an ink pen that says 'Ireland', and has sheep on it!! (I collect ink pens!)
Then the sweet darling sent my kids each a green pencil with sheep on top. They were so tickle to get something!!!!
So I'd say this swap was an awesome experience, and I plan on keeping in contact with Isobel.

Hello,
I had forgotten that today is a holiday, and I have several exchanges ready to go out. Guess I have to wait till tomorrow.
I just received my Pal for the Secret Pal 9 swap. This is so excititng because I have been waiting a long time for this. I found the SP8 too late to join, so I had to wait until now to chime in on the fun!
I have secret pals in other clubs but they only last for that month's exchange. This will be a secret for LONGER!!!!

I have been watching the Knitters Tea Swap Blog and reading all the goodies everyone has received. It is so exciting to see. My Pal has assured me that mine is on the way across the water, so I will be patient and wait! It is exciting just to know that it is coming from such a distance!!!!:)

Oh my there is a package on its way to my Knitters Tea Swap 2 Pal! I mailed it out and I pray it gets there safely to her. I have mailed out another smaller coffee/tea swap and a monthly dishcloth exchange also this week. The US Postal Service loves me this week, and it's not even Christmas!!!! I have one more exchange to send out before Halloween, it is a Halloween exchange for CrochetSwapSpot@yahoogroups.com It is a neat place with some fun folks.

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?So far, I seem to like Caron Simply Soft . I haven't tried many varieties yet. Stuck with what I can find easily on sale. I love Peaches and Cream/ Sugar and Cream, Patons too. I just discovered dishcloths! :) The Bernat soft yarn is pretty too. I don't care for wool (allergic) and other scratchy yarns, so I lean toward softer brands.I have seen beautiful yarns posted on people's sites, but I don't know where they came from.
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?I have a purple zippered knitting needle case for my knitting needles, but nothing for my crochet hooks.
3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn?I learned how to knit when I was a child from my Granny. I stopped , and recently stared back up. I never learned by a pattern, just learned the stitches. So now I am learning how to read a pattern. My girls wanted to learn. Whew!! Our week end was rather wet!!! I tell ya the rain came down from above in sheets!!! A lot of areas were flooded out. Thank God we only had some water in our basement but no damage. We lost phone service for over 24 hours cell phone and land line. The phone company had its basement flooded!! The firetrucks were there pumping water out.

I put a My Wish List on Amazon.com, but could not figure out how to post it on the blog, so if anyone can tell me how to get the link on here in case a secret sister/pal wants to see what I'd like please tell me!:)

My middle daughter is home sick, her asthma is giving her fits, she has bronchitis right now. I am sure she will be fine, she now has rested and got some breathing meds under her belt!
Better go start dinner!

Oh my is it ever getting exciting. I heard from my Secret Pal from the Knitters Tea Swap and I received my Pal to spoil. I have been anxiously waiting for this!!! This is going to be soooo much fun!

I sent an email to them both today. I had some questions for my Pal to spoil. I want the box to be just right!!!:)

My Secret Pal emailed me some questions. I hope I answered everything she needed. In case she reads this again, and wants some more info.:) I collect ink pens from different places or companies, and love postcards. Anything that is local for you that I could not get in Kentucky is great also.

It is rainy and cool today, they say it will rain for the next few days. Sounds like tea time!!!LOL

Busy Sunday

What a busy day. I stayed up too late Sat. night cleaning and putting away veggies I bought at the Farmers Market, so I was struggling getting up this morning. After church we ate with family before going back to the Youth service this evening. I had to stop buy Michaels for Nina's science project which is due tomorrow :( But of course I had to survey the yarn section while I was there! They had some real pretty cotton yarns for Fall!!!
There is no way we are finishing this project tonight!. The teacher didn't tell my dd that they were doing this assignment until they were about due. My dd had been ill and out for a week when she gave the assignment out. Guess I will be at the school in the morning to get more time.
I finished another cloth today it was a round one with ruffles. Kinda cute think I will make another. I will post pix later this week. I want to make a potholder to match.

Thread is not as easy as it looks to use. It can make some pretty things , but you have to know what you are doing I guess. I was just trying to do a little bit and after frogging so many times I ended up with this.

This is my first thread bookmark. It is the Yo Yo Boookmark pattern. It was fun to make and I hope my exchange partner likes it. I was lucky because purple is her favorite color too!!

Here is my finished checkered dishcloth. It is my first knitted cloth. I thought I would never finish counting, especially since the kids always interrupted me!
I like the pattern though. Guess I need to try a different one next time!

Well another day of waiting around to see who my swap partners will be. I am so excited!
I have already been buying lil things for them. I am waiting to see if I am going to be able to be on the chocolate swap. I told her that if someone dropped out I am interested. I eat chocolate daily! Two of my four kiddos are lovers of chocolate too. My other dd tries to like it because it looks so good. My son just declares he doesn't like it!! I cannot imagine not liking such rich goodness!!
My friend from Atlanta sent me some Sees chocolate Christmas balls one year, Oh my they melted in my mouth!! Actually she sent them to my dh, but I ate them. LOL I can remember my mom and I stopping by to get some Godiva Chocolate after a shopping trip. It would be so hard to pick the one I wanted! Memories....

The Vanilla Chai is good. It has so many other subtle flavors infused in the tea I taste more cinnamon than vanilla though. I also purchased a white tea, which I had not tried before. It had a real nice flavor also. My hubby was not impressed, and stuck with his black tea! LOL

Things are getting exciting.
I have been reading the Knitters Tea Swap 2 Blog, and everyone there has such a varity of tea-tastes. I have not broaden my horizons yet. I love the names of some the teas they are mentioning! I like fruit teas, and smooth tasting teas. I drink green and black teas, heard they were good for your health. Even got my dh drinking black tea!! He likes it better than coffee, I love both! I have had Celestial Seasonings, Twinnings and of course Liptons. I am trying a new one I found today Vanilla Chai. I am trying it tonight.
Will have to see how it goes!!

I joined the knitters tea swap2 and I got in just in time. It should be great with so many participants! I am looking forward to tying new teas and meeting a new pal! I usually drink Green Tea, Black Tea and Fruit Teas, but I was reading on the blog from the previous swap about other flavors I did not know existed. Vanilla..yum! that sounds good! Of course I may have to buy some equiptment or ask for instruction because around here there are not many loose tea places and I have never tried loose tea. I have always bought the bags! LOL
So I am looking forward to this and finding out who I am sending to and where they are from.

The girls had music lesson today ( flute and clarinet), and I was rushed to get them there, I had a site based meeting at their school, and the teachers were a bit chatty!

Good evening. I am so excited. I found this site last night for a Knitters Tea Swap 2. It sounded so cool! I got in on the last of the sign ins for this . It should be great, meeting new people with the same interest as myself.
My dd had me to buy her some yarn and a crochet needle tonight after church. She wants to try her hand at crocheting too. She has been knitting on a scarf all year! LOL She had a good birthday yesterday.
I guess I should be getting the school bags ready for tomorrow. It is picture day for three of mine so the outfits are laid out.

Oh dear what a day! My dd had her 13th birthday today. I now have a teen. She wanted a party at a pool, but it is starting to get cool out. The indoor pool on Ft Knox may be an option. I will have to check into it. She already knew IF she had a party, it would be on a different day than her actual birthday.

She was happy with her presents as well. She loves Manga books and she got 3 of them. She stayed up and read one of them tonight.
I am getting sleepy and a little frazzled so I will go. Sunday school in the morning, so I need some shut eye!!! I have been trying to knit another dishclothtonight.

Oh dear. I neve made it to get the yarn!! The day was jammed packed. After the hair appt at 11:30. I went to fix dh's lunch before he went to cut the church's lawn. Then off to pick up the kids at school. Nina had Academic Team practice till 4:30 and then flute lessons at 5p.m. Breezy had clarinet at the same time. One of Nina's friends neede a ride home from practice, but the poor girl couldn't give me directions to her house. We drove around a while until she saw a familiar site!!
Now we had to tackle dinner and homework! Dinner was chicken from the supermarket andsome peas and carrots. The slow process of homework has not ended they have fallen asleep trying to finish. Nina fell asleep shortly after we arrived back home.

Guess I will try and wake them for bed now.LOL

Well, today I am going shopping for some autum yarn for a dishcloth exchange. I saw some real pretty yarn at Michaels and I plan to use my coupon!!
I made my first potholder, and I want to make some more. May use them as gifts for Christmas with a matching cloth. It went a lot faster crocheting the cloths instead of knitting them. Although I love the designs you can get by knitting!
I am in several exchanges for the fall and it is so exciting!!!

Maybe I can post pictures if I can possibly figure out my dh digital camera!LOL
Better go and get busy, I also have a hair appointment this morning. Perfect alone time under the dryer to get some knitting or crocheting done!!!

Hello,
Today is a beautiful day! My oldest dd which has been home sick for a week, has returned to school!!! Yea!!!! I know she will be tired when she gets home. She had mono and it will remain in her body for a while. I will have to encourage her to nap, as she is beginning the season of academic team practices and competition. It always tires me out if it doesn't her!!

I am crocheting a potholder to include with a dishcloth for an exchange I am in. It is so much fun to get things in the mail that are not bills! :)

I am in an ongoing Friendship Afghan exchange in Yarn Charm. It is casual and adding members monthly so it never ends! Pretty neat.

Better go and get ready to pick up the three youngest from school we have to visit the library before coming home.

The week end was a busy one. It sure was a nice gathering at my in laws 50th wedding anniversary celebration. All of their 10 children and their families were there and the kids sure had a blast!!!! Friends from far and near came and it was so nice.
We are all tired today, but it was well worth it!!!
Hopefully today I will get some things accomplished and get the kids things ready for school in the morning. This holiday gives us that extra day to recoop from the w/e!!!LOL

Busy day with the kid's stuff. I had to get my DD's class work that she had missed on this week. Plus this is fundraising week for the middle school and yours truely is in charge of that. So I have been walking the halls daily checking to see which student brought their money and order forms back to school.

My other dd had try outs for her Academic Team this afternoon.

Today was pretty uneventful. I am working on squares for a friendship afghan exchange on Yarn Charm. I have about 10 to 12 squares ready to go out tomorrow.
My oldest daughter has been ill this week with tonsilitis and mono. She thought she was recovered and went out for a little while , but she came home and crashed!! She will learn that mom knows best one day!!!

Hello!
Just trying out this blog thing to see how it goes.
I am a SAHM of 4 children, Nina will be 13 in a few days, Bereanna is 10, Cedric (II) is 9 and Florence is 7. Two are home sick today the crud is going around school.
I love to cook, knit and crochet. I have not finished a lot of projects, but that should be changing soon and when I do I wil post a pix on here.
My loving hubby is Cedric , our anniversary is in a few days...19 wonderful years!!!!
I must go now and pick up the younger two from school and pick up homework for Bereanna.
